Lent

Lent is a time for reflection. I take this time to think about what is really important in my life, like my family, my friends, my education, and my goals. I think about how those things support my commitment and my faith to God.
This may sound crazy to some of you, but I actually like giving something up for Lent. It reminds me that so many things that I think I “need” are actually only things that I want. I like choosing something that distracts me from treating my body like a temple and keeping it clean. I am giving up pop for lent because the caffeine and sugar in it just isn’t very healthy. I know that I will feel a sense of strength and control when I make the choice to not drink pop tomorrow and every day until Easter. I hope that I will be able to continue to limit my pop consumption even after Easter.

I also want to use this time to find something that is also healthy or good to do and make that a new habit as I get rid of drinking pop as an old habit. This is where you come in….

I want to know: are you are giving anything up for Lent? Are you choosing to do anything for Lent? If so, what? What do you think I should choose to do for Lent?

P.S. - I wish I could be there to bury the alleluia and do the Stations of the Cross with you!

  1. I gave up chocoate candy bars, pop, and I am going to reflect more on all the things I am fortunate enough to have in life that others don't have.

  11. What a huge smile and warm heart you just gave me, Kaylee! It is good to know that you all know how much I miss you. Sometimes you do have to give up what you love in order to discover a different path, even though it is hard. I hope you all learn to follow your dreams as well.

Congratulations on the win in the tournament and the win on the science quiz! I am so glad you are doing so well! Thanks for the kind words and the updates!
