The Hunger Games: The Series

The Series
As much as I wanted the books to last forever, I knew they had to come to an end.
But, I found myself pondering, why didn’t Suzanne Collins make the books longer? She could have easily drawn out the story by filling in more details about each stop on the Victory Tour. I would have liked descriptions of each district so I could try to place them on a map of North America.

So, my questions for you: Why do you think the author kept the books pretty short when the series could have been much longer? Are you okay with her decision to keep the books short? How would the series have changed if she added more scenes? What would you have wanted her to add?

  2. I think she kept it short because she wanted our brains to think of what it was like with all the clues we have. She might just want a mysterious end or just to use our imaginary! If it would have gone on it would have been better and if it did I would want her to choose Gale because they have been friends their entire life, gone to the "secret woods" together, and would just be perfect for each other.

  4. Margaret, I really like the idea of her wanting us to use our imaginations. What a great way to involve the reader in the story by getting the reader to stretch his/her brain!

I am so intrigued that you would have Katniss choose Gale. You support your opinion with some very good reasons. I think you make a strong case for Katniss and Gale. I like her with Peeta, though. I think Peeta calms her down a little and makes her think with her heart and not her anger. Gale is a wonderful friend, and I think they would have been happy together if she had chosen Gale, but I think Peeta might make her a better person. This is a matter of opinion, so we are both right! Hooray!

  6. I found some cool games on the internet that test whether or not you would survive the Hunger Games. Sadly, I can't seem to win! Good thing the Hunger Games are fictional!

Try the games and tell me what you think and how you do!
